Nuances of Eyebrow Development

Clients and I both learn the nuances of eyebrow development from this point of view: "This is permanent folks and will be for years. Better get it right!" This is why the comprehensive consultation is so important. Some elements analyzed in this consultation included: Horizontal misalignment Right brow lower Left brow higher Wider lid on left Right bone structure is flat and left is forward I also analyze the skin undertones to develop the proper shades. Asymmetrical Eyebrows

My client, a retired principal of a Baltimore County school shows off a highly improved eyebrow. I wanted to achieve a lifted brow without too much drama. She had had her brows done elsewhere before, but the lift you see here was not there. It was low and flat but I do see why. Many of us have a flat brow bone that is different from the other one. If one is flat and the other is not, the symmetry will need to be corrected. On her next visit, I will add a beige color to correct the symmetry. … [Read more...]

Bold Brows

My client, Nikki, came back for a brow refresher.  It had been six years so they were faded and needed a touch-up. The factors that lead to this design were her angular features, her height and personality. In the consult, I had settled on two shapes. One reserved and the other more striking . Her shoulders are broad so all the parts came together. I first laid down a light taupe tone and since it looked a bit boring I added the depth. She will be back for a follow up in four to six weeks. Keep … [Read more...]

How long do eyebrow hair strokes last?

A question I often get asked is how long do eyebrow hair strokes last. Both shading, hair strokes and microblading will fade over time. The depth of the pigment penetration, the needle or needles and diameter of needle play a role. Lifestyle and proper care also contribute to how long the strokes last. Touch-ups can be done after two years, but everyone is different. Skin types--thin, dry oily, acidic are factors that add or diminish staying power. The darker the hair strokes, the longer they … [Read more...]

Her brows and lashes aren’t going anywhere!

While some people may think her lash extensions are extreme, I just love how her brows turned out.  I used the Micro-Blade Pen and used two different blades.  I enjoy using a combination of brow techniques.  Now this cheerleader is ready to cheer on her team. She can sweat all she wants, but neither her lashes nor her eyebrows are going anywhere.  They will serve her well. … [Read more...]

Gloria Speaks at Health and Beauty Event

Here I am with plastic surgeon, Dr. A. Miller Alonso, after speaking at LifeMed Institute's ‘Health is Beauty’ Open House. There was a panel of 5 speakers, each of us sharing our expertise with guests. I demonstrated what takes place during a consultation for permanent eyebrows, and showed the attendees how I choose colors and create new eyebrows that enhance the face. I spoke about permanent make-up for men including hair follicle simulation for face and scalp, and how to improve the hairline … [Read more...]

Do Your Homework Before Permanent Make-Up

Dissatisfaction with your permanent make-up can lead to frustration and costly corrections. Sometimes when the pigment is too deep, it can be more difficult to remove. As with any permanent make-up procedure, including corrective procedures, doing your homework is the key factor for your own satisfaction. In the past few days, I have spoken to two ladies who are unhappy with their eyebrows. Their desire to have the work done overshadowed the questions they needed to ask. One had received 3-D … [Read more...]
